Curated by Jack Burham, seek was shown in the software exhibition for the Jewish museum in New York 1970. This work was a computer controlled robotic arm that would arrange the blocks inside the large glass container in to a certain pattern, inside this container were a number of gerbils that would arrange the blocks into little huts to sleep in, after spending a long time making their huts the robotic arm would come and arrange them back to how the originally were. This caused a lot of stress on the gerbils. This work uses many systems.
Eadweard Muybridge-
Known for pioneering work on animal locomotion which used many cameras to capture motion. In 1872 a very debated question was if all four hooves of a horse are off the ground at the same time during a gallop. Muybridge settled this debate my making a system of taking photos of the horse galloping and with one single negative proved that all the hooves are off the ground at one stage.
Nan Goldin-
Nan is a american Photographer who uses the system of slide shows to present her work, began documenting post punk new music wave, Goldin's work most often shown in film festivals. The most famous is a 45 minute show of 800 pictures. Her main themes are love, domesticity, gender and sexuality. Her work is viewed like a private journal gone public.
My work-
Title of work- Decomposing Over Time.
Material- I used my SLR digital camera to take my photos and also used Photoshop for editing, I used a mushroom from the gardens for these photos.
I have decided to use disintegration and decomposition as my system for this project. I went in search of something I knew would start decomposing fast enough so that my photos would be done in time, While in the botanical gardens I came across this red mushrooms with white spots. I have taken close up photos of this mushroom to show how disgusting this process really is; this system of decomposition was very fast and happened over only a few days.
